Grand Bargain Goes Down in Salem
Oregon Lawmakers failed to come together on the "Grand Bargain" plan. It was called the last chance at reforming PERS and raising revenu during this session. Senate President Peter Courtney was leading the effort to bring the bills to a Senate. The vote turned partisan when Republicans voted down the the bill to raise taxes on corporations and cigarettes denying a 3/5's majority. Bruce Starr was the lone Republican to vote for the bill.
