The Blazers are one week away from one of the biggest nights for the organization – The 2013 NBA draft – There’s a lot of question marks regarding the team’s future and a lot of holes to fill. Chris Haynes from CSNNW.com joined Chad in-studio Thursday to talk about the team’s possible draft and off-season moves.
Haynes first talked about the impending decision regarding LaMarcus Aldridge – Do you keep him, or do you trade him while you can get something for him?
“As of right now, until he tells the organization he doesn’t want to be here, I think you have to let him play the two years out…Play next year out and see how he feels going into his final year.”
Haynes also talked about the option of bringing the Polish Hammer, Marcin Gortat, to the Rose City.
“He’s a good fit. When you look at his skill set, it is exactly what the Blazers need – Somebody who’s going to man the paint and stay down on the block because LaMarcus needs to be able to roam the perimeter. He’s a very good option…If the DeAndre Jordan situation plays out where he’s in Boston and there are no other free agents out there, I really do think that’s a viable option.”
Haynes also talked about some possible free agents who might be in play for Portland.
“I believe Tony Allen would be in play from Memphis. I know for a fact Tony has no bones about playing in Portland. I’ve talked to him personally about that…You look at the type of player is – He’s tough. He’s durable. He would fit in well.”
