Portland City Council Approves Final Budget
The Portland City Council has approved the final budget 4-1. 26 city workers may lose their jobs and open positions will not be filled. Most of the service cuts were spread around to various bureaus.
Mayor Charlie Hales said it is painful to have to lay anyone off. Commissioner Steve Novick compared the budget to a family having to cut their own budget. The only no vote on the council came from Commissioner Amanda Fritz.
