“He treats everybody equally as you may see on T.V. because he knows his system works. As long as you run it, you can be successful.”
He also said he enjoyed playing alongside the other players that the Blazers decided to bring in and that they were easily incorporated into the system Rick Adelman had established.
“Myself and Clyde being the elder statesmen of that team, as far as being on the trailblazers, they brought guys in that made a great connection with us...We integrated them into the system that we already had under Rick (Adelman), and guys seem to really fit into it. Even though we didn’t win a championship there’s not very many teams that make a run the way we did.”
Kersey also said the fans in Portland were loyal and always supportive, but most important the Blazers were like a family.
“You know it was a family, and there’s nothing like a family feeling when you’re playing a team sport like basketball.”
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to look for Kersey and the rest of the CSNNW crew on Talkin’ Ball.
