Portland Firefighters Battle Two Blazes
Fire at Pape Kenworth

Ramona Street house fire
Portland firefighters are staying busy with two fires this morning. The first was at a trucking company in Northeast Portland, and the second at two homes in Southeast.
Two big rigs burned just after 4:00 at Pape Kenworth on Columbia Boulevard near MLK. Crews used foam to handle
the diesel and oil oozing from the trucks. Damage is around $1 million. The building suffered water
damage. Arson investigators say the cause is undetermined
at this time.
About five hours later, crews responded to 41st and Ramona where flames spread to two homes. The owner awoke to someone yelling "fire". The man, his wife and four dogs got out safely, but seven cats were left inside. One person was taken to the hospital with serious burns.
Crews were pulled out for a head count after part of the second floor collapsed and because there was a gas leak in the basement.
The owner thinks it could be an electrical fire because of how old the house is, but investigators have not confirmed that. The A-T-F is there to help with the investigation.
