David Aldridge Talks NBA
NBA columnist and TNT analyst David Aldridge
joined John Canzano on the Bald-Faced Truth Thursday afternoon to talk about the NBA Finals and the Brooklyn Nets hiring Jason Kidd as head coach.
“I think Jason has a chance to be a very good coach. My only problem is that I think there’s a lot of guys who have really tried to do things the diligent way that just don’t seem to get the opportunities that other guys do. It seems to happen over and over in the league, a lot of people get jobs that don’t have a lot of experience.”
Less than two weeks before Thursday’s announcement, Kidd was still an active NBA player.
“He’s got enormous respect amongst the players [and ] coaches. From that standpoint, he comes in with a boatload of credibility. What you don’t know is what you just don’t know about anybody until they become a head coach. I think Jason is going to be smart enough to surround himself with really experienced assistant coaches who can help him learn the ropes.”
Aldridge also had thoughts on Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge.
“I would only trade him to get a top flight center. I wouldn’t be in any hurry to trade him. Just play this year out, see what you get in the draft, and then you can at least make the sales pitch to him that involves young players that are getting better.”
