Political Activist Suing Vancouver Over CRC Project
A political activist is filing a lawsuit this week against the city of Vancouver, accusing them of breaking the law by not putting a measure on the Columbia River Crossing project on the ballot.
Enough signatures were gathered to force a vote and it was certified by the county auditor, only to have the signatures turned down. That ruling was reversed in court.
Eyman says the city council still hasn't put the issue on the ballot as required by law.
"Our best friend is the Vancouver City Charter. It says right there that they only have two two options - either adopt it themselves or put it on the ballot. Sitting on your hands and doing nothing is not a viable option," Eyman said.
He believes a judge will agree and expects a decision within a month.
