Rob Mullens: The Ducks Fan Experience
University of Oregon
AD Rob Mullens
joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth Monday afternoon to talk about rising ticket prices and the Ducks fan experience.
“It’s difficult. Obviously resources do matter, and if you want to compete at the highest level across the board, you’ve got to be able to generate the resources.”
Mullens said that Oregon’s unique situation which may be at a disadvantage.
“When you look at who we’re competing against, the Texas', Ohio State's, the Michigan's, the Alabama's, the one thing that puts us at a disadvantage is that we have a 54,000-seat football stadium. Football generates 70 percent of the resources that allow us to fund a 19 sport athletic program.”
To put sports costs into perspective, Mullens quoted the price of last year’s one-off game versus Fresno State: over 900,000 dollars.
Costs like this are what make the best seats in the house face value plus a 1800 dollars per seat donation.
However, Mullens said there are still affordable options for Ducks fans.
“We have a number of season tickets that do not require a per-seat donation, unlike some of the more successful traditional powers in college football. You can walk in and buy a season ticket, I want to say right at 300 dollars a ticket.”
