Former Duck in Trouble with the Law Again
Cliff Harris' football career was off to a rocky start in 2011 when he was arrested during a traffic stop. An officer pulled his car over for speeding and smelled marijuana, but Harris says they smoked it all. He was kicked off the Oregon Ducks for violating team rules.
His professional career was set to begin with the New York Jets, but again, he was cut from the team because of pot.
Harris was back home in Oregon when he was arrested on Friday night for allegedly pushing his girlfriend outside a Hillsboro restaurant. The 22-year-old was due in Washington County Court today for domestic harassment.
He was seen passing cars in a no passing zone on Highway 210 at 219, going 62 m.p.h. in a 45 zone. He told a sheriff's deputy that he was on the way to court. Harris doesn't have a license, so he wasn't allowed to drive himself. He refused a ride from a deputy and said he'd get there on his own.
A ride was supposed to pick him up. By the time that Harris arrived nearly two hours later, an arrest warrant had already been issued and he was cuffed at the courthouse.
