Beer Thief Nabbed by Driver
A man trying to steal beer threw a case at a driver that stepped in to stop him. 20-year-old John Jacobson of Portland allegedly took the beer early Thursday morning from a Plaid Pantry in Cedar Hills. James Smith was pulling into the convenience store parking lot for his daily delivery and witnessed the theft in progress.
Smith asked Jacobson to put the case back, and when he did, Jacobson threw the case and hit Smith in the eye. Smith was able to bring him to ground and call the police. Once Smith let Jacobson up, he fled to the nearby Nike campus. The Washington County Sheriff's Office easily located Jacobson hiding in the bushes. He is charged with robbery and theft.
