Bob "Hardcore" Holly is one of the most famous wrestlers to ever wrestle for WWE. He joined Chad on Flight 750 Friday to talk about his time in the ring as well as his new book that just hit stores.
Hardcore Holly was raised in Oregon and actually grew up watching Portland Wrestling. He said that Portland Wrestling was how he developed his love for the sport.
“I loved the drama and I loved the characters they had. The one guy who really got me hooked was “Playboy” Buddy Rose. He was such a good bad guy.”
He also talked about one of his favorite guys to hop into the ring with, the late great Macho Man Randy Savage.
“When I first came to the company, him and Rick Martel took to me and kind of showed me the ropes. Paul Bearer got my foot in the door. But Randy took to me for whatever reason and we became good friends and he just kind of showed me the do’s and don’ts in the locker room and helped me along the way.”
Holly also talked about the happy ending to his book. His high school sweetheart Linda left shortly after her graduation to join the Air Force. The two went their separate ways for decades, but through the magic of facebook they rekindled their high school relationship, and then in 2010 were married. He talked about his life with his new wife.
“I couldn’t be happier. We are together 24-7 and I will not travel without her. We are together every single day and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to check his new book.
