Credit Unions Expect Big Deposits
Cash could soon come pouring in to local credit unions. Yesterday marked the first day some Oregon credit unions could take in public deposits over a $250,000. Previously banks were the only financial institutions who could do so from state agencies, cities and schools. Oregon Treasurer Ted Wheeler was authorized to set up this plan for credit unions by the Oregon Legislature in 2010. So far one credit union in Kalamath Falls is expecting the first large deposit to be made.
