It was a radio reunion of sorts on Flight 750 Monday afternoon as Chad and his former partner Antonio “White Tone” Harvey joined the show to discuss the Blazers’ huge win over the Celtics on Sunday and the recent acquisition of backup point guard Eric Maynor.
Tone insists that the win had a lot to do with Wesley Matthews being reinserted into the starting lineup.
“He provides a different type of energy. LaMarcus, he’s the go-to guy on offense and Damian Lillard is the up-and-comer. Nicolas Baum is the smooth guy but it really is Wesley Matthews and J.J. Hickson to a secondary extent. They’re the guys that provide that energy, that go-juice that the team needs to be successful.”
Tone also admits that he has done a complete 180 on All Star Power Forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
“I’ll be the first to admit, I have had some reservations about LA in the past. All of those reservations are gone. This dude’s unbelievably gifted and talented as a basketball player.”
And finally, Tone talked about Blazers' rookie Victor Claver and the improvement he has made over the course of the season.
“You think about where Damian Lillard was…He’s doing what we expected. In terms of who is making the most movement and growth, I definitely think Victor Claver is that guy.”
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to pay attention when Tone said that he identified Eric Maynor a few weeks ago as a guy the Blazers should target in free agency.
