Crestline Prepares For New Surroundings

Staff at five schools in the Evergreen School District that will house 500 displaced students and teachers from the burned down Crestline Elementary School are busy preparing their classrooms in time for Thursday.
Kindergarten students will go to Mill Plain Elementary, 1st graders are relocated to Ellsworth, 2nd graders to Columbia Valley, 3rd graders and students in the Academic Learning Center will attend Riverview, while 4th and 5th graders stay together at Fircrest.
This is the first sign of life getting back to normal after the Vancouver school was destroyed by fire early Sunday
morning. Neighbors say they heard kids running around outside and the
sound of fireworks.
Investigators are being assisted by the ATF. It may be at least one week before the cause is known. The fire possibly started in an overhang, where there are no sprinklers, and spread into the attic.
The community is stepping up to help in any way they can. A stay-at-home mom has organized a book drive, another parent is donating the money from t-shirt and bracelet sales, and a photographer is donating proceeds from shoots through April 15th. Friends of Fire Station 6 has partnered with Additional Self Storage to collect and distribute supplies.
Burgerville restaurants at Cascade Park, Fisher's Landing and Heritage Park are also accepting donations with plans of a fundraiser as well. East Vancouver Community Church has opened its doors with activities, grief counselors, and meals for students who rely on breakfast and lunch at school.
