Doug Drabek/BleacherReport
Portland, OR had a rich tradition in minor league baseball until a few years ago when the city lost the Portland Beavers. Baseball fans are rejoicing as the sport is coming back to the Portland metropolitan area as the Hillsboro Hops. Former MLB Cy Young Award winner Doug Drabek joined the BFT to talk about joining the franchise as their pitching coach.

Doug Drabek found success in Major League Baseball especially early in his career when he pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Drabek talked with John about winning the Cy Young Award as member of the Pirates.

"You don't think about it and as it got towards the end and now you have basically media asking you about it. It does get into your mind but you know you have a chance but you kind of try to disperse that out especially when you're in playoff run I think that overtakes everything," Doug said when asked about if he thought his success would lead to a Cy Young award as the season was being played.

Doug was a teammate of Barry Bonds during his stay with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

"You saw the talent he had and he had one of those bodies that was strong and lean and you would see him run, hit, field and you just knew that he had a chance to put some big numbers up," Drabek said of Bonds in his early years in Pittsburgh.

John and Doug also talk about coming to the Hillsboro Hops organization as the pitching coach.
