The Super Bowl is right around the corner and it will feature super star and players who are the unsung heroes of the NFL. Super Bowl champion and former NFL pro bowler Sam Gash joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth to talk about his experience in the big game.

Gash made a name for himself as a fullback which primarily blocked and did the dirty work to help the runningback get opportunities to gain big yards. Gash talked with John about blocking and the fact he liked to block more than carry the football.

"As a player I always felt I was a pretty smart player you know so I could kind of anticipate where things were gonna be and happen. When you got the ball everybody's trying to hit you and you don't really see where the hits are coming from but when I'm blocking I know exactly where my hits are coming from and they're straight ahead no fair dodging and I always appreciated that."

Sam Gash won a Super Bowl title as a player with the 2000 Ravens and was a teammate of Ray Lewis who is more than likely going to be a first ballot hall of famer. Gash spoke with John about Ray then and now.

"He's a lot more powerful than he used to be because he was a lighter guy, he was a sideline to sideline guy but i think now his maturation at the position is unbelievable because now he anticipates where he's gonna go as opposed to relying on his sheer physical ability."

John and Gash talk about transitioning to coaching after his playing days as well as the coaches that helped mentor Sam as a coach.
