Brent Warstler's mug shot

A man who police say was drunk crashed into pedestrians on the sidewalk, killing a woman and injuring another in downtown Portland early Sunday morning.  The two women were walking to meet their ride after celebrating a friend's 21st birthday that Saturday night.

Witnesses say 42-year-old Brent Warstler of Cornelius ran a red light in Old Town, crashed his pick-up into a taxi cab at Northwest 5th and Everett, jumped the curb and hit the group.

20-year-old Rebbecca Bray of Gresham died at the scene.  Her mother says her daughter was a vivacious young woman who was studying to become a hotel manager.

21-year-old Brandi Butner of Fairview was critically injured.  Nobody in the Sassy's Cab was hurt.

Three passenger in Warstler's vehicle were also injured.  He's charged with manslaughter, assault, reckless driving, and DUII.
