Cannon's mug shot

An off-duty Hillsboro Police officer is accused of shooting a Washington County Sheriff's deputy during a Sunday night disturbance involving the officer and his wife at their Forest Grove home.

Deputies tried to talk with Timothy Cannon, who barricaded himself inside the home on 37th near Candlestick Street.  Officers entered and shots were fired.

Both the officer and deputy were wounded, but not seriously, and later released.  The deputy was shot in the hand.  The officer's wife and the couple's 6-year-old daughter were not physically hurt.

Officer Cannon is charged with attempted aggravated murder.  He's 46-years-old and has worked the streets of Hillsboro for 13 years.  He was recognized in November with a life saving award.

Lisa Cannon is a high ranking administrator with Forest Grove Police.
