Rodgers Rants about Te'o's Girlfriend

The whole Manti Te’o situation is one of the weirdest stories we have ever heard in the sports world, so we brought a very special guest in to try to make sense of the whole situation. Travis Rodgers from Yahoo! Sports Radio joined Chad on Friday to offer up his two cents on the entire situation.
Rodgers admits that he is pretty confused by the whole thing, but he insists that there is no way that Te’o is being entirely truthful on the matter.
“There’s only one thing that I’m positive about and that’s that Manti Te’o is not 100% a victim here. I’m willing to believe that maybe he got hooked early, realized he’d gotten hooked and then participated from that point forward. I’m willing to believe that he was in on it from the beginning. I’m willing to believe that he may have concocted this as some sort of elaborate ruse to throw people off a perhaps larger story that maybe he doesn’t like girls…I’m willing to consider all of the possibilities other than, “Oh well, hey I was just in love.”
Rodgers also insists that as twisted as this story is, it’s a little bit humorous that he stands by his story has whole-heartedly as he does.
“He made up a person who was hit in a car crash who nearly died, who while she was in the hospital they discover she had leukemia, who then subsequently dropped dead on the same day that his Grandmother did, who then had a funeral which didn’t exist, that had a casket closed at exactly 9:00am, which never happened, which he sent white roses – which we don’t know if he did or not.”
And finally Rodgers offers up his explanation for why the story is ridiculous.
“I’m willing to consider the possibility that he’s naïve. He’s religious. He’s unfamiliar with the ritual of having a girlfriend. But he’s also 20-21 years old, he’s filled up with testosterone. He’s all cranked up. He lives in a modern world where you can skype and facetime and video chat and do all these other things. And not one time did he want to touch her, see her, feel her, kiss her…None of this ever crossed his mind? That’s impossible for me to believe. And if in fact all this is true, he’s the world’s single worst boyfriend if he doesn’t come to your aid when you’re in a car crash and the when your dead he stays home to play Michigan State.”
