Ridgefield High School Adds Armed Security Guards

Ridgefield High School
Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Washington has added armed security guards. The two full-time private guards with guns are now patrolling the halls and the grounds.
Eric Jacobsen with the Ridgefield School District says they are spending about $39,000 dollars on security. They are paying for the guards as well as new locks on classroom doors and exterior doors. Jacobsen says the private guards are more efficient and cost effective for the school than public law enforcement. For instance he says, they are able to more easily access student's lockers.
