Bird poop covers a sidewalk on SW 6th and Madison

Watch your step!  The sidewalks in downtown Portland, particularly on the bus mall, are not as clean as they usually are.  They're covered with bird poop.

Crews are usually on top of the problem, but because of our below freezing temperatures, they can't pressure wash at night.  Doing so would turn things into a skating rink.

Today, crews plan to get out there after noon when the temperature is the warmest.  They'll pressure wash, then lay down a thin layer of de-icer so we don't go slipping and sliding.

Central City Concern is responsible for keeping 213 square blocks downtown, and the glass bus and Max shelters clean.  They typically spend 360 man hours each week pressure washing.
