Stu Lantz spent eight years in the NBA with the Rockets, Pistons, Jazz and the Lakers and he is currently a television analyst for the Los Angeles Lakers.  He joined guest host Chop on the Bald Faced Truth on Friday to preview the big Lakers-Blazers matchup tonight in L.A.

Lantz insists that the biggest problem with the Lakers exists on the defensive side of the ball.

“They’ve got some issues on the defensive end that they’ve got to somehow rectify before they can even start to think about winning streaks.”

Lantz also talked about the Blazers young point guard Damian Lillard.  He seems to think Lillard is the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year just like all of us in Portland think.

“If they were voting right now, he would have to be the choice to get that award.  He’s had just an amazing start to his career, especially when you consider he’s playing the hardest position.”

Lantz also said that Lillard reminds him of another great Western Conference point guard.

“I kind of like the kid that is my candidate right now for most valuable player of the year too and that’s Chris Paul.  I thought Chris Paul came into the league with a little moxy about him.  –  Real sharp on the court and the ability to control things and make his teammates better.”

Take a listen to the interview and be sure to check out the Blazers take on the Lakers tonight in Los Angeles.   And be sure to swing it over to 750thegame for the 5th Quarter tonight following the game.
