Holiday Mail Torched at Gaston Post Office

Gaston Post Office
Mail that was put in the box outside the Gaston Post Office this holiday weekend was destroyed by an arsonist.
Somebody used gas to light the post office's only mailbox on fire around 6:00 on Christmas Eve morning. They dropped a wick into the blue box and lit the fuse.
The quick work of firefighters saved a good chunk of the mail inside. But, much of it was damaged beyond repair by the fire and water used to put it out.
An arson investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Postal Service is underway.
