LaMicheal James has spent much of this season on the sidelines playing backup to Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. But with the recent injury to Hunter, James got his first real shot of the season this past weekend against the Patriots, and he made the most of it. James joined Bernie on Flight 750 Thursday to discuss this past weekend and weigh in on Chip Kelly and his coaching future.
James insists that the 49ers have not let the win versus the Patriots go to their hands and they remained focused on the big west coast matchup with the Seahawks this weekend.
“Really the mood is to win this game. It’s a big game for us. I’m going to go out there and play Seattle hard and try and come out with a “W.” No one’s really talking about the playoffs because it’s pretty much irrelevant and we’re just taking it one day at a time.”
James also discussed the possibility of his former coach Chip Kelly heading to the NFL and how he might do.
“He’s a great coach. I say that sincerely – Probably one of the best coaches I’ve been around. He’s really, really, really smart. With that offensive mind that he has, he can pretty much do anything he wants offensively.”
And finally, James weighed in on why Kelly would consider leaving his throne in Eugene and try his hand at the NFL level
“If you’re a competitor and have a strong, competitive mind, you know you want to be at the best level and try to do it against the best…I think he’s like that. And I feel like he believes that with his offensive mind, his coaching style can work at any level.”
