Who Was Jacob Roberts?
Friends describe the Clackamas Town Center shooter as a fun loving kind of guy who would go across the street and help an elderly neighbor bring in groceries. They are trying to come to grips with the fact their fun loving friend turned into a killer Tuesday, gunning down two people and wounding a third, before killing himself.
Audrey Rook went to high school with 22 year old Jacob Roberts and tells The Oregonian all he cared about was making people laugh. Another friend who saw Roberts just last Friday says he's been turning it over and over in his head and says nothing seemed strange. He says Roberts was his same lighthearted self and that its hard to imagine him being any other way.
Roberts' aunt Tami who raised him as her own issued a hand written message that says she loved her son very much and has no understanding or explanation for his behavior. In the fall, he told friends he planned to buy the sandwich shop where he worked. But then he quit last month. He then told friends he had inherited money and was moving to Hawaii. A former roommate tells The Oregonian Roberts missed a flight last weekend. Another friend says Roberts had started selling his belongings. His Facebook page shows the word cancelled and it was written on top of a picture that reads Follow Your Dreams.
