A bold carjacking attempt in SE Portland over the weekend. The most shocking part is the bad guys are still in grade school. Amy Garrett was parked in her pick up outside Freedom Foursquare Church waiting for her parents Saturday. Two boys, ages 7 and 11, walked up to her and demanded her car keys, cell phone and money. She thought they were kidding until the 7 year old pulled some bullets out of his backpack. She drove off and called 9-1-1. Police say the 11 year old refused to take his hands out of his pocket. When they did it for him, they found him gripping a .22 caliber handgun with the hammer cocked and ready to fire.

The boys were released to their parents because they  aren't old enough to be taken to the Juvenile Hall where the minimum age is 12. The case is being referred to the Juvenile Unit which will  look into the boys' home life and their parents as it decides what to do. Detectives are  still trying to figure out where the gun came from.
