Woman and 8 Dogs Survive Vancouver House Fire

A woman woke up her neighborhood in East Vancouver early this morning with screams that her house was on fire.
A neighbor ran across East 29th Street before 5:00 and rescued seven dogs. The woman got outside safely. An eighth dog was found alive inside after the fire was put out. A pet bird did not survive.
Firefighters battled the blaze from outside because the house was cluttered. It was severely damaged.
