Oregon State Police say two people were seriously injured after their car drove off the road and hit a tree.

It happened just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, when 58-year-old Michael Moir of Canby was driving west on Highway 18.  Moir lost control while approaching a curve, sending the car down an embankment.   Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police says the passenger side of the car then slammed into a tree.

Both Moir and his passenger were wearing seatbelts. Police have cited Moir with failure to drive in a lane.  Hasting says Moir and his passenger, Pamela Waite from Canby, were taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
