Wrecked car entangled in the tracks and a tree

Light rail service on the west side was disrupted for much of the day after a late night crash.

Police say a driver who was arrested for DUII was speeding as he took the turn from the Sunset Highway to 217.  The car landed on its wheels on the eastbound tracks.  The crash damaged the overhead wire.

27-year-old Jeff Roberton from Vancouver escaped with only minor injuries.  He also faces charges of reckless driving and criminal mischief.

Red and blue line riders had to take a shuttle bus until repairs were done.  That work was finished earlier than expected.  As of 3:45, service was fully restored.
