The Ducks travel down to Cal on Saturday to take on a team that has historically played very tough against them. Although this year’s Cal squad appears to be a little less dangerous compared to some of the teams in the recent past, the Bears are very capable of pulling off the upset at home. Cal coach Jeff Tedford joined Chad on Flight 750 Thursday to talk about the big matchup at Strawberry Canyon.
Tedford insists that although speed is one of the obvious things you notice when you watch Oregon on film, it is not the most impressive thing you see.
“The precision they play with at all phases of the game is incredible. They’ve done an excellent job recruiting, and Chip’s done an excellent job of turning the offense into a machine.”
He also suggests that the Ducks are more than just a great offense.
“Their offense gets a lot of attention and it’s well-deserved, but their defense is excellent.”
Tedford also spoke to what teams need to do if they have any chance of beating the Ducks.
“It’s really about trying to get them off the field. The defense can keep them backed up a little bit and offensively, make first downs and try to keep your defense off the field. That’s key. Because if they get the ball a lot, they’re prolific in how fast they can score and the different ways that the can score.”
Take a listen to the interview and be sure to tune into 750thegame on Saturday as the Ducks take on the Bears at the newly renovated Memorial Stadium.
