To celebrate this very classic cocktail-who’s origins go back to the 1880s. In fact, the recipe for making a whiskey sour first appeared in the book----How to mix drinks, written by Jerry Thomas, and published in 1862. It’s a very easy cocktail to make with just four main ingredients. Originally made using brandy and egg whites, by 1900-brandy had been replaced by blended whiskey and the egg whites dropped sometime after that.

Ingredients: 2oz. blended whiskey, ½ tsp. powdered sugar (or simple syrup), the fresh juice of one small lemon-per drink, ice, and a lemon wheel for garnish.

Preparation: In a shaker filled with ice, add the whiskey, sugar, lemon juice. Shake and pour into either a sour or old fashion glass and garnish with the lemon wheel.
