Lars got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records (remember 45s?) and reading news, sports and weather (twice an hour) on KTIL (The Mighty 1590) from a little cinderblock building on the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon (75 miles West of Portland, Oregon).
36 years later, he’s only moved 75 miles east to Portland and light years to “the Right”. Emmy and Peabody award winner Lars Larson brings nearly four decades of experience as a radio and television journalist to the microphone for six hours of the best talk radio in America. Six hours of daily prep keep The Lars Larson Show on top of the news and top-of-mind for listeners across the country.
Along the way, Lars has worked for more than a dozen radio stations and five television stations. Today, Lars holds down the fort from 12pm – 4pm on Radio Northwest flagship FM NEWS 101 KXL. His local talk show airs on seventeen stations in the Pacific Northwest (and earns him the biggest local talk radio audience in the region).
Today I brought up the fact that Oregon lawmakers are considering legalizing and taxing marijuana. It all went up in smoke from there.
I took a plethora of calls on everything from marijuana in the work place, to people who had alternate ideas for testing for the drug. Whenever the 420 crowd gets riled up, I usually get a few priceless calls, and I wanted to share one of them with you.
I got a call from a nice young lady named Sarah, who started telling me about her fiance, a medical marijuana patient, who was arrested for possession...
What would you say if someone you knew someone who had been falsely held on death row for over a 20 years? It happened to an Arizona woman in the 1990s who was accused in the murder of her child.
The woman was convicted based on a confession collected by a police officer who had what I'll call a slight issue telling the truth. The was no written confession, and there was no audio or video tape of this confession. Just the word of this police officer. The prosecutors knew about the officer's history of lying, but went with his word any way.
Now, all this information has come to light, and the woman is set to be released in the next 90 days, unless the state finds a new reason to try her for this crime.
I'm usually on the side of the cops because most of the time they tell the truth. But I can't stand behind something like this.
I was joined tonight by attorney Rob Cary who talked about this miscarriage of justice.

Now the latest example of government waste: a federally funded study to find out why lesbians are fat!
Here's the scoop from our friends at the Daily Caller:
Is this really something that needs to be studied when we're not able to do things like pay for our military servicemen and women to go to college?
I don't think so...
Rand Paul, fresh off his 13-hour, marathon filibuster, took some time to join me today for a 9 minute mini-filibuster.
He said that the filibuster was necessary to get the answers he needed from John Brennan regarding the use of drones on American citizens on American soil. Prior to the filibuster, Brennan seemed to basically avoid the question all together.
The basic point Senator Paul was trying to make is that you can't kill an American unless they are engaged in combat, without due process.
