THE LARS LARSON SHOW                         Honestly Provocative.

Lars LarsonLars got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records (remember 45s?) and reading news, sports and weather (twice an hour) on KTIL (The Mighty 1590) from a little cinderblock building on the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon (75 miles West of Portland, Oregon).

36 years later, he’s only moved 75 miles east to Portland and light years to “the Right”. Emmy and Peabody award winner Lars Larson brings nearly four decades of experience as a radio and television journalist to the microphone for six hours of the best talk radio in America. Six hours of daily prep keep The Lars Larson Show on top of the news and top-of-mind for listeners across the country.

Along the way, Lars has worked for more than a dozen radio stations and five television stations. Today, Lars holds down the fort from 12pm – 4pm on Radio Northwest flagship FM NEWS 101 KXL. His local talk show airs on seventeen stations in the Pacific Northwest (and earns him the biggest local talk radio audience in the region).

Illegal Inequity

Oregon Dems n RINOS pass college help for illegals (up to $14,000USD per year) this is such a fraud on taxpayers, citizens and legal aliens.

The Oregon House voted 38-18 to grant in-state tuition rates to undocumented Oregon high school graduates. The bill now goes to the Senate.

House Bill 2787 would grant in-state tuition for undocumented students who have attended school in the country for at least five years; studied at an Oregon high school for at least three years, and graduated; and show intention to become a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Yet every time I have talked with ICE they tell me that a
bsent a change in federal law, And excepting cases of political asylum an illegal who is in our country illegally cannot legalize their status without first returning home and getting in line with everyone else.

So...how does someone "show they intend ..." When it's not legally possible

Thus, a reporter might ask, is this essentially illegal requirement of the law simply inserted to give an air of legitimacy to the law, with the authors intending that the state will NEVER actually enforce this provision?

I'd ask you...if it was a republican bill with such an openly fraudulent provision ...wouldn't you call it into question?

And here's the real significance of this...

The illegals you so sympathetically portray in the paper (like the long term illegal and union official who broke the law)

WHEN THEY GET THAT DEGREE AND STILL HAVE NO SSN NUMBER...WHAT GOOD IS THAT DEGREE WHEN THE LAW SAYS THEY CAN'T LEGALLY WORK IN THIS COUNTRY

It's strange that the Daily Dead Fish Wrapper would pillory any american who worked a job with fraudulent credentials yet support the right of 100,000+ oregon illegals to do the same

Reince Preibus: Republicans Win Minds, But Not Hearts

The GOP needs some help. There's no easier way to say it. So what do you do?

RNC Chair Reince Preibus joined guest host Rich Miniter, and he had some very candid words about the republican party and what needs to happen for the party to return to prominence.

Hit With A Restraining Order? Get Ready To Give Up Your Guns...

Kevin Starrett from the Oregon Firearms Federation brought something to my attention recently that most people are not aware of. There is a proposal in Portland that would change the game for gun owners who are hit with a restraining order. It would require anyone who owns a gun and gets hit with a restraining order to give those guns up, and they can't contest it!

Here's how the Daily Astorian has it:

The city of Portland, Multnomah County's courts and Sheriff's Office are close to inking a deal that would close a loophole in existing gun law.

In domestic violence cases, judges can compel a person subject to a restraining order to surrender firearms. But Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman says most Portland-area judges don't.

"I think the biggest barrier is there's no teeth to it right now," Saltzman says. "The civil deputies who serve the restraining order, they don't have the ability to compel someone to surrender firearms. We're going to put a little more teeth into that."

Saltzman has brokered an agreement that would require guns be given up one of three ways:  surrender them to a civil deputy when the order is served, give the guns to a third party who's passed a background check, or drop them off at one of three local police offices.

Subjects would have thirty days. If they don't comply, they could be held in contempt of court. At that point, deputies could seize the weapons.

Saltzman says a few more details remain to be worked out, but he hopes it can go into effect in March.

There's still a lot of unknowns in this law. When do you get your guns back? Will they be destroyed or stored when turned in to police? All I know, is that this proposed change stinks. But what else would we expect in Havana-on-the-Willamette?

Check out the interview with Kevin Starrett. What do you think about this proposed rule change?

If A Meteor Threatens Earth...We're Screwed

We live in a world of the internet, iPhones, iPads. A world where information and technology is more accessible than ever.

But when it comes to matters of space exploration, and defense against things like meteors and asteroids, the planet is still in the dark ages in some respects.

Dr. Travis Taylor, who you might know from the National Geographic channel's show "Rocket City Rednecks," says that the task of preventing an asteroid impact at this point in time is practically impossible, and, unless there is a great advance in the technology to protect the planet outside of atmosphere, we will be hit be an asteroid someday. It could be tomorrow, or 1,000 years from now.

Dr. Taylor joined me today on the program and talked about what might need to be put in place to defend the planet from these sorts of threats.

Would You Plead Guilty To A Crime If You Weren't Guilty?

I always pride myself on having what I call the best conversation in talk journalism. I prefer that my show is a dialogue, not a monologue. But sometimes a conversation will transform into something else, like it did today.

Portland, and the entire State of Oregon have a huge problem with sex offenders. I asked the audience why they thought this problem was so out of hand. We had a number of great calls, but the conversation started to evolve. It moved from what types of offenses could get you smacked with the sex offender label, one caller claimed the Clackamas police force will arrest someone when called on a domestic violence call, regardless of whether or not it's warranted. Finally, we moved on to the topic of plea bargains, and whether agreeing to plead guilty to a crime means you're actually guilty.

My answer is simple, if you plead guilty to something...you're guilty. If you're innocent, don't plead guilty. But several callers decided that they disagreed with me. One caller specifically had an interesting story.

Listen to the call and tell me whether he made a good case...

Want Food Stamps? Fill This Cup...

They tried it in Florida, and now they're thinking about trying it in Washington state: drug testing people who receive welfare benefits.

I think it's a fantastic idea. Why should I have to pay for your groceries, rent, or medical care if you're spending your money on pot, meth, or cocaine? Washington will even allow you to keep your benefits if you fail the first drug test on the condition that you enter counseling and don't have another positive test.

To make it fair you could even randomize it. When you fly into Mexico and go through security, you show them your papers and then push a button. A red or green light will appear, and based on the result you may be chosen to have your bag searched.

It could be one in five, or one in ten people that are chosen at random to be tested. I think it would deter a lot of druggies from coming down to apply just knowing that there's a chance you might get selected for this type of testing.

It's high time that we start taking the steps to make sure our tax dollars aren't being wasted on people who choose to feed their addiction instead of their stomachs...
