Lars got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records (remember 45s?) and reading news, sports and weather (twice an hour) on KTIL (The Mighty 1590) from a little cinderblock building on the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon (75 miles West of Portland, Oregon).
36 years later, he’s only moved 75 miles east to Portland and light years to “the Right”. Emmy and Peabody award winner Lars Larson brings nearly four decades of experience as a radio and television journalist to the microphone for six hours of the best talk radio in America. Six hours of daily prep keep The Lars Larson Show on top of the news and top-of-mind for listeners across the country.
Along the way, Lars has worked for more than a dozen radio stations and five television stations. Today, Lars holds down the fort from 12pm – 4pm on Radio Northwest flagship FM NEWS 101 KXL. His local talk show airs on seventeen stations in the Pacific Northwest (and earns him the biggest local talk radio audience in the region).

Portland's Pricey PottiesMind if we talk about sometime that stinks? By that I mean Portland’s Patented Public
Toilet…brainchild of former city
commissioner Randy Leonard. Now mind
you, when I say it stinks I should mention that it gets cleaned plenty…to the
tune of 14-hundred dollars a month. And
there are a bunch of them, so the taxpayers are paying about 90-thousand
dollars a year for that service. But
when you’re camping on downtown streets, sponging for spare change, waiting for
your next drug customer or fix…the call of nature can lead to nasty
results. Willamette week reporter aaron
mesh has the whole sordid septic story in this week’s edition. It details how the program was intended to be
self funding because the city owns the patent to the public toilet. At least one person who regularly deals with
patents tells me the thing isn’t worth much…because its nothing unique…and
that’s what it takes to be a patented toilet. Leonard assumed the city could
sell its unique idea to other cities and recoup the 600-thousand dollars in
public water bureau money it cost…but so far no takers. Not a problem for leonard now…he’s off
enjoying his two public pensions in retirement…and you and I are stuck with the
bill

Ron! A Voice For Oregon Miners! But I keep running into the same problem. No one can put the importance of mining into simple terms that normal folks understand, and do it with passion. But today, I think we may have found the man who can be the mouthpiece for these chosen few... His name is Ron, and he joined me today. What do you think? |
The Speech Police...Is the IRS going to serve as President Obama’s “speech police”? A powerful government agency targeting groups for their political beliefs.John Boehner asked this morning “who’s going to jail for this”. It wasn't just a rogue office in one city, but many IRS offices around the country. IRS demanded extra proof of tea party groups.Today we learned that a group of Democrat Party Senators, including Oregon’s Jeff Merkley and comedian Al Franken, sent a letter during the election run up, demanding that the IRS give extra scrutiny to political groups…and I don’t think they meant Media Matters. The President’s half brother, Abongo Obama runs a shady charity that has built a Madrassa. It claimed tax exempt status it didn't have for a couple of years. Then Lois Lerner, the woman who is at the center of the Tea Party Investigation scandal, managed to secure tax exempt status for Abongo Obama in less than a month. Remember this is the same agency that will play enforcer on ObamaCare when it kicks in January 1.As for the President…he’s playing Sgt Schultz…he knows nothing.Absolutely nothing... |
McConell: IRS Scandal "Blatant, Thuggish Abuse Of Power"A government watchdog is blaming ineffective
management at the Internal Revenue Service for allowing agents to improperly
target tea party groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax exempt
status. In an upcoming report, the Treasury inspector general for tax
administration says lax management allowed the practice to go on for 18 months.
The Associated Press obtained a copy of the report ahead of its release. The
IRS on Friday apologized for targeting tea party as well as other conservative
groups. The report said that when asked by investigators, IRS supervisors said
the criteria they used to decide which groups they examined were not influenced
by people or organizations outside the IRS. In addition to this information, Senator Mitch McConnell blasted the IRS, calling their targeting on conservative organizations a "blatant and thuggish abuse of power." Senator McConnell joined me today on the show, and he was on fire! |
Illegal Government Gun ShowThis weekend, Cease Fire Oregon had a gun buyback in Portland. There were more than 25 guns present and available for transfer, but there was no FFL licensed dealer present, and there were no background checks being performed. A citizen journalist confronted the people running the buyback, the Mayor of Portland, and others about the fact that they were committing a class A misdemeanor. Their argument is that since the guns were being destroyed, they were not being transferred. According to the state statute, that is not the case. Our legal expert Bruce McCain joined me on the program today, and he agrees that it was technically illegal to run the buyback the way that they did... |
Keep Your Eyes on ClevelandThe whole country is watching what’s happening in
Cleveland with the rescue of three women, kidnapped, raped and beaten…and
Oregon should be watching too. The
Buckeye state does something that Oregon doesn’t. It protects unborn
babies. And the rescued women say one of
them was raped…then beaten till five of her unborn babies died. In Ohio that’s aggravated murder. In Oregon it’s….nothing. If a pregnant woman in Oregon is beaten till
her baby dies it’s an assault on the woman…but the death of the baby isn’t
murder. I know we’re stuck with Dr Death
as Governor. The Governor likes doctor
assisted suicide and abortion…killing the defenseless. But he’s dead set against the death
penalty…killing the guilty. If you can
make sense of that I’m betting you voted for Doc Death and the Bungler of
Benghazi. But I guess in a very twisted,
weird, Democrat Party way it makes sense.
Unborn babies don’t vote. But I’ll bet if they did, they’d vote pro-life…and
I think Oregon should too. Let’s put the
death penalty in the law to protect victims of the kind of crimes Cleveland
found out about this week. |
