THE LARS LARSON SHOW                         Honestly Provocative.

Lars LarsonLars got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records (remember 45s?) and reading news, sports and weather (twice an hour) on KTIL (The Mighty 1590) from a little cinderblock building on the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon (75 miles West of Portland, Oregon).

36 years later, he’s only moved 75 miles east to Portland and light years to “the Right”. Emmy and Peabody award winner Lars Larson brings nearly four decades of experience as a radio and television journalist to the microphone for six hours of the best talk radio in America. Six hours of daily prep keep The Lars Larson Show on top of the news and top-of-mind for listeners across the country.

Along the way, Lars has worked for more than a dozen radio stations and five television stations. Today, Lars holds down the fort from 12pm – 4pm on Radio Northwest flagship FM NEWS 101 KXL. His local talk show airs on seventeen stations in the Pacific Northwest (and earns him the biggest local talk radio audience in the region).

HEARD ON LARS LARSON

Community Activist vs. Successful Businessman. The Choice Is Yours

I know it’s hard to keep track of all the broken promises of President Barack Obama.  But I think this is a big one.  As a candidate, Obama promised to cut the federal deficit in half.

Right now, the government borrows about 40 percent of the money it spends. Taxes make up the rest. The President produced a budget but it doesn't cut spending and every member of his own party voted against it.

Last year, the government spent $1.22 billion dollars more than it took in. This year, the deficit actually increased by $47 billion dollars to $1.23 billion and change. That means the total debt of the average American household stands at just under $137,000. That would just about wipe out the equity the average family has left over in its home, after government policies cratered the economy four years ago.

To put it in personal terms, the federal debt of the average family increased by $10,855. That’s up from the $10,454 it jumped last year.  Should we send the college professor community activist back to Chicago and hire a successful businessman to replace him?

The Bow Hunter Unleashed!

Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan, the man I expect to be the next Vice President of the United States joined me today on the talk show. Ryan has been the only man with a plan to pull America back from a financial cliff that literally threatens the existence of our country. And I had a few good questions for the congressman. Like, why the mainstream won’t hold President Obama to account for his train wreck economic performance. And why Romney’s five point economic plan for tax and regulatory cuts, standing tough with China, defending Israel will do a better job for Americans at all income levels.

I wanted to know whether Romney and Ryan will start busting the White House for its apparent cover-up of the warnings it got about possible attacks on our embassies and consulates before the Murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens. And I talked to him about the new reports that there are dozens of new victims of the Obama administrations fast and furious illegal gun running to Mexico.

The man the secret Service code named Bow hunter was quite the interview. I’m sure you’ll find it interesting.

Two Paths. Two Candidates. One Choice.

What should voters make of Mitt Romney’s recent comments that 47% of Americans believe the government has a responsibility to care for them. The simple answer is no, the government does not have a responsibility to Care for Americans.

We are a compassionate country that provides ample government and private charity for those who are incapacitated by genetics, or disease or disability. Governor Romney overstated the facts when he said that all Obama voters are dependent on government.

Or that all of those on government assistance will vote for the Democrat, or that none of those taking Government benefits will vote for Romney. But there is some truth in what he says.  Too many Americans are on the Dole; taking food stamps, welfare subsidized housing, medical care and energy.  And too many of those folks will vote for the candidate who promises them more benefits.

This is the path to national bankruptcy.

Those on public support during a brief transition between jobs or facing tough circumstances who plan to get off it quickly know who they are. Those who are dependent on it with no real plan to get off it will likely vote for a democrat who promises more...

Candidate Romney has promised to push for the maximum of personal liberty for all…and that means opportunity.

Candidate Obama has promised that government programs, government jobs and trillion dollar deficits are the path to prosperity.

This November we will find out how many people believe that’s where America should go.

Want To Pay For The Government's Mistakes? They Want You To...

Lots of Oregonians have wondered in the last four years of the great recession why their property taxes are not going down.

Right now you’re taxed on your assessed value which is nearly always less than market value.  But when the economy collapsed in 2008, real market values fell, but usually not enough to bring them down to the tax assessed value. So your property taxes stayed the same.

Now that governments have run up huge amounts of debt and public workers are making nearly as much in benefits as they do in salary, those governments are running short of money.  Remember that so called public servants usually make 30 percent more than the people they serve.

So the Ashland daily tidings reports today that the League of Oregon cities wants to start taxing your home on the basis of market value, raising property taxes even though your house has lost a quarter of its value or more.

And every time a house is sold, taxes will go up again if the value rises.  It’s time for citizens to start setting some limits on this tax insanity.

Sometimes We All Need To Laugh

With all the turmoil going on in the world, sometimes it's nice to have a laugh.

During my show today, my producers spotted comedian Paul Reiser in the building. We, of course, roped him into coming on to the show for a few minutes.

I'm never one to shy away from the issues, and this was no exception. Paul is one heck of a professional and handled himself great.

Take a listen!
