Cars & Stuff - Imagine Car Talk meets Portlandia meets the Sopranos… and you have Cars and Stuff. Agitator and reality broker B. Scott Taylor, and Master Mechanic Casey “the Car Whisperer” Botta take car-related questions from callers and interview legends of the local car scene, while discussing, critiquing, and ranting about cars and Portland culture. Perplexed by the idealism and quirkiness of Portland and its residents, Casey and Scott bring a cutting East Coast wit and Soprano’s style banter to represent old-school common sense on relevant issues… as well as irrelevant ones.
B. Scott Taylor – Worked undercover in the Navy tracking gun runners in the Philippines, Sponsored a race car in Spain with Kanye West, sold the rights to his novel to the guys behind Entourage, The Office, and Bernie Mack, and founded an internet company he sold for 90 million dollars. Now he is irritated, opinionated, and entertaining as ever. Scott moved to Portland from New York in 1996, and although he loves the city there is some “stuff” about it that continues to perplex him. As the host and antagonist, Scott gets easily side-tracked, is prone to occasional tirades, and is often more interested in the personal lives of callers than their car issues… he only wants to help
Casey the “Car Whisperer” Botta - master mechanic, wise guy, and owner of Botta Moto Works, Casey moved here from Boston in 2010, and has quickly become a fixture in the Portland car scene. He services, diagnoses, customizes, and restores anything with wheels. When not at the shop Casey is riding sport bikes, Harleys, and dirt bikes. He drag races muscle cars, road races his BMW, and has even been known to throw a lift kit on a truck for some off road action. Casey is happy to be in Portland but it’s a stark contrast to his East Coast roots, and our quirky city often confuses him…
