EUGENE, Ore.--The Lane County District Attorney's office has filed charges against quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and former wide receiver Garrett Embry in connection with a January theft at a fraternity house, according to assistant district attorney Patty Perlow.
Perlow said information charging Masoli and Embry of one count of burglary in the second degree was filed on Wednesday. An arraignment is scheduled for Friday afternoon in Lane County Circuit Court.
As the thefts were investigated, questions and rumors spread online and around town.
When contacted for comment, University of Oregon athletic department spokesman Andy McNamara said, "We don't have any comment at this time."
On February 1, the UO athletic department announced Embry had been dismissed from the team on January 8.
The police department denied a KVAL News request for a copy of the police report, saying it is an ongoing investigation.
A member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity accused the players of stealing items from the house on Jan. 25, according to OregonLive.com. Following initial reports of the accusations, Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Melinda Kletzok woud not confirm whether the players were suspects or persons of interest in the case.
