One Dead Three Hospitalized After Wrong Way Crash On The Sunset Highway

BEAVERTON, Ore.–  The driver of a red pickup truck was going the wrong way on the Sunset Highway.  It was traveling West in the eastbound lanes near the Sylvan exit. The crash happened about 1:10 A.M. just West of  SW Murray Blvd. Witness reported the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.  Police have determined that alcohol was a contributor to the crash.


The red Nissan pickup truck driven by Armando Gallegos of Hillsboro struck the silver Honda Civic with three occupants.  The passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.  he is identified as Brandon Wendall , 20 years old.  the male driver and female passenger  20 and 17 years old respectively  were both transported to local hospitals for treatment of life threatening injuries.  The girl is from Sherwood. The Washington County Crash Reconstruction Team is the lead investigator in the crash.
