PORTLAND, Ore. — The Powerball drawing for Wednesday night has been increased from $450 million to an estimated $500 million, making it the game’s fourth largest jackpot ever.
The winner has the option of $306 million in cash before taxes or an annuity paid out over 29 years.
The odds are one in 292.2 million. You have a greater chance of being struck by lightning, but you can’t win if you don’t play.
An Oregonian beat those odds in October, 2005. A lucky somebody cashed in for $340 million, among the top ten Powerball winners ever nationwide.
The drawing takes places at 8:00pm.
