Firefighters Rescue Dog from Banks of Cowlitz River

LONGVIEW, Wa. – A dog gets stuck in the mud and icy water of the Cowlitz River, Saturday. His owner tried to rescue him but was afraid the mud would take him too. A call to 9-1-1 had firefighters on their way. These men placed a ladder on the mud so they could walk on it without sinking, then they dug the cold dog out of the mud with their hands. The dog was no longer responding to it’s owner at one point, but they wrapped a blanket around him to warm him up and his condition began to improve immediately.
