Crash Knocks Down Power Pole, Traps Driver

TUALATIN, Ore. – A meat delivery truck crashed into a power pole off SW Tonquin Road, trapping the driver.

Police say 43-year-old Joseph Ely was driving a refrigerated truck for Columbia Empire Meat Company Friday, when he lost control on a curve and crashed into the pole.

Electrical lines fell on the truck, trapping Ely inside.  Fire crews weren’t able to get Ely out until PGE got there to cut the lines.

Ely walked away from the crash with minor injuries.

Residents in the area were out of power until the lines could be repaired late Friday.
