A few months back, the parole board decided that Richard Gillmore (a man who has admitted to raping several women and is known to the public as the Jogging Rapist) was still a threat to society, but could be adequately controlled and would be granted release. This news came as a stunner to Tiffany Edens (she was attacked and raped by Gillmore several years ago when she was in middle school) who said that her rights as a victim were violated. She contends that the board did not put forth enough effort to tell her Gillmore was up for parole, and when she found out, they didn't allow her full right to address the board. As a result, Edens filed an appeal hoping to block Gillmore's parole (or even get it overturned).
Moments ago, a judge agreed and ruled on that appeal saying that Gillmore DOES have to go back before the parole board and do the whole process again.
This reporter actually got the privilege of delivering the news to Edens herself after confirming the verdict with her attorney. Edens says that she is thrilled by the result and was near tears knowing that she will have at least a month to prepare her case and be granted full participation in the new round of hearings.
As of 3:45 PM the Parole Board has not released any kind of comment or statement.
