The true story of Chris
Gardner, a man who pulled himself from absolute poverty to millionaire status, is DEFINITELY worth the price of admission. In fairness, the plot is incredibly heavy as you slowly watch a man spiral into poverty. However, the overall message that we can persevere over ANY obstacle coupled with pockets of humor make for a truly inspiring two hours. Even my dad liked it and he hardly EVER enjoys movies. Be ready for a rough 120 minutes (I was expecting something a bit lighter like Rocky or Rudy) but you will NOT be sorry.
A bit of trivia: Keep your eyes on the screen at the end of the film. You will see Will Smith walking with his son in a hilly part of San Francisco. Before they start to walk down the hill, a bald man in a nice suit passes them briefly. That is the REAL Chris Gardner. Talk about a cameo.
