Police Arrest Armed Burglary Suspect Hiding Under Porch

Portland, Or. – An armed burglary suspect who fired shots at police near West Burnside this morning is now in custody. The woman spent several hours hiding under a porch on SW King. The stand off ended after 6:30 a.m. this morning. Police are taking her to the hospital. It’s not known if she has injuries.

Portland police got a call about someone trying to break into a building last night around 11 p.m. They didn’t find anything. They got a second call at 3:30 a.m. and when they arrived, the woman started firing shots and they returned fire.

West Burnside was closed from 20th to 23rd during the stand off.

Police say the woman is in the hospital and will recover from her injuries. Her name has not been released. Police have released the names of the two officers involved in the shooting. They are Joseph Webber and Darrell Shaw. Both have been placed on paid administrative leave while the case is investigated and put before a Grand Jury, which is standard procedure.
