Cornelius Police Custody Death

A 24-year old man who was taken down by police in Cornelius has died.  A homeowner woke to find Daniel Barga breaking patio furniture, ripping up bushes and trying to break in through windows.  He was wearing only a t-short and was covered with blood when police approached him about 3am.  He refused to cooperate, so police used a taser and pepper spray to subdue him, but neither worked.  After police physically subdued him, he stopped breathing and was pronounced dead at the hospital.  No word on whether the man was handcuffed or whether any special holds were used on him.  An autopsy was conducted Sunday by the State Medical Examiner's Office, but no cause of death has been determined.  But, the autopsy and investigation are leading investigators to believe that Psilocybin Mushrooms may play a part to the events that occurred.  A toxicology report won't be available for several weeks.
