17-Year-Old Arrested For Shooting In Bethany

Washington County, Oregon – A 17 year old boy is in custody today, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies have been looking for Jeffrey Terrell ever since a 16-year-old was shot inside his home in Bethany last Monday night. Sheriff Detective Robert Rookhuyzen says the suspect Jeffrey Terrell of Springfield was arrested by US Marshalls Monday afternoon near Providence Park.

Rookhuyzen says the suspect and the victim knew each other, but couldn’t say what led to the shooting. The victim is now out of the hospital and is expected to be okay.  Jeffrey Terrell is being held at a Juvenile Detention Center, charged with attempted murder and assault.

Update: 17-Year-Old Arrested for Shooting Last Week in Bethany

February 12, 2018 — During the investigation that followed last week’s shooting in Bethany, Washington County Sheriff’s Office detectives assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit identified 17-year-old Jeffrey D. Terrell of Springfield as the suspect.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant accusing Mr. Terrell of attempted murder and assault in the first degree.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Mr. Terrell into custody earlier this afternoon near Providence Park in downtown Portland. He will be lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center.

The victim is being identified only as a 16-year-old male who lived in the residence where the shooting occurred. He has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Neither the victim nor his family wish to speak to the media.
