A bird strike damaged one of the engines and possibly part of a wing of a Southwest Airlines flight after it took off from P-D-X Saturday around 12:30. The Boeing 737 was headed to Oakland when it happened. The captain decided to turn the plane around as a precaution and had no problems getting to the gate. No one was injured. Some of the 136 passengers were able to other flights out to Oakland, but almost 100 were stranded until the flight's re-scheduled 6 o'clock take off. Wildlife experts will determine what kind of bird hit the plane on Tuesday. There have been 65 bird strikes at PDX this year, but this was the first one to damage a plane.
