Wife Accused of Running Cop Husband Over

A 7-year veteran Salem Police Officer is in the hospital in critical condition after authorities say he was ran over by his wife.

Police say Shirley Nunez thought her husband Kenneth Nunez was having an affair.  So, she went over to the house of his mistress and threatened her with a gun early Monday morning.  Then minutes later - she caught up to her husband Kenneth outside their home and ran him over with her pick-up truck.

Kenneth was off-duty at the time he was hit.  He remains in the hospital fighting for his life.  Shirley has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes including attempted murder, burglary and menacing.
