Car Wedges Against Tree In NE Crash

Authorities say the driver of this SUV was speeding as it rolled and wedged against a 2' diameter tree, trapping the driver inside at Northeast 60th and Lombard around 4:40 this morning. Traffic was shut down for three and a half hours. It took firefighters an hour and a half to free the trapped driver. Two trucks flipped the vehicle back over so crews could cut the top off and get to the person. It was much easier reaching a passenger. Portland Fire says this was the most complicated rescue anyone on the crew had experienced. A man and woman are said to have life-threatening injuries.
