When people think of college football awards the first image that comes to mind is the Heisman Trophy. John M. Heisman, the grand nephew of John W. Heisman joined John Canzano of The Bald Faced Truth to talk about his latest book "Heisman: The Man Behind the Trophy".

Many know the trophy but what kind of a person was Heisman?

"Fun loving, liked a good practical joke, had a dry wit and actually in the summertime's his other job off the field was that of a stage actor and he loved to do comedy," Heisman commented.

John W. Heisman was more than just a student of football. He was an intelligent individual who studied different subjects that would help him gain a competitive advantage over his opponents. John M. Heisman comments on where some of the knowledge was focused.

"He was a student of many disciplines, while he had a degree in law that didn't limit him. He was constantly studying human physiology, anatomy, the digestive tract, what makes a person tick and he was constantly applying that to his players."

Heisman and John also go on to talk about where the interest began and excitement of learning more about a legend. Pick up the new book "Heisman: The Man Behind the Trophy" at a local bookstore or online at www.amazon.com.
